Welcome to june Lake Loop Historical Society June Lake Liquor Store My grandmother, Dolores Stuart, owned the June Lake Liquor Store sometime in the 1930's and 40's.A family friend, Judge Libby, made this possible. Judge Libby owned Libby's Liquor Store and Service Station.I was born in 1940 and attended First Grade at a one room school house in June Lake. I spent my summers in June Lake until I was 14 years old. Perhaps we know each other! We moved to June Lake in about 1944. Lived there year round. Also built a home in Round Valley - near Bishop, where I went to 7th & 8th grade in 1948-1950. I took piano lessons from your Grandmother! Worked for her cleaning the rooms she rented out to pay for my lessons. Pat June Lake Liquor Store

Dear Pat,
I was 4 years old in 1944. In 1946 we lived with my grandmother for the entire year and I went to school in June Lake. My mother also gave piano lessons. Perhaps you remember her. Her name was Peggy Martin. (Margaret Mary Stuart Martin) My father helped to build my grandmother's store across from the market. I would like to trade stories with you. My grandmother was an important mentor to me. Kathy |
